A portal with spiral vigas accents your front door and adds a custom touch for a small additional fee. We use passive solar designs to maximize heat gain during the winter, and because adobe is a good insulator, our houses are cool in the summer when properly ventilated, and warm in the winter when properly heated. We use radiant floor heating under saltillo tile and carpet (in the bedrooms), which is more efficient than forced air, and many of our clients choose to supplement with a wood stove or fireplace for atmosphere as well as warmth. Some of our clients have requested water "catchment" set-ups, and "off the grid" electric systems, which work well with our homes.
